Job Summary
Optical Engineer – Freelance AI Trainer sought for part-time, project-based work designing physics-based optics problems. Responsibilities include designing original optics problems that simulate real physics research workflows, ensuring problems are computationally intensive, developing problems requiring non-trivial reasoning across mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics, basing problems on real research challenges in optics/physics, and documenting statements with verified correct answers. Requires a Physics degree and 2+ years of experience, proficiency with numerical simulation methods, strong English writing, and ability to mirror real physics research workflows. Compensation up to $35 per hour equivalent; approximately 10–20 hours/week during active phases; remote opportunities in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or related fields
- 2+ years of professional experience: applied, research, or teaching experience is applicable
- Experience with numerical simulation methods
- Ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows
- Creative thinking in problem design across diverse physics areas
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Strong written English (C1+)
