Job Summary
Optical Engineer for project-based AI training sought to design optics problems that simulate real physics research workflows. Responsibilities include creating computationally intensive problems across mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics; ensuring problems mirror real research challenges; and documenting statements with verified correct answers. Ideal candidates have a physics degree, 2+ years of applicable experience, experience with numerical simulations, creative problem-design skills across diverse physics domains, familiarity with physics modeling, and strong written English (C1+). Project requires approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, with compensation up to $76 per hour equivalent (across varying project scopes). This is a part-time, non-permanent opportunity with remote work options in the United States (US states listed: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Iowa). The work is conducted on a project basis and paid according to contribution level.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or related fields
- 2+ years of professional experience: applied, research, or teaching experience is applicable
- Experience with numerical simulation methods
- Ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows
- Creative thinking in problem design across diverse physics areas
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Strong written English (C1+)
