Job Summary
Optical Engineer to lead architecture decisions and design/architect optical components for high-performance imaging systems within Anduril Imaging. Focus areas include converting prototyping to production, designing lenses and IR-visible optics, defining performance requirements under multi-disciplinary constraints, and evaluating/iterating test setups to transition products from R&D to production. Responsibilities involve independent and collaborative problem solving, supporting senior staff, and applying opto-mechanical expertise to ground and airborne imaging applications; emphasis on optical design/analysis, tolerance, and system-level performance.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or Physics/Astronomy with concentration in Optics
- MS or PhD preferred but not required
- 5+ years of experience with complex opto-mechanical systems, optical design, analysis, alignment and test
- Experience building LIDAR, laser communications, or adaptive optics systems
- Expertise with optical design and analysis software (Zemax or CodeV)
- Experience with STOP (Structural, Thermal, and Optical Performance) analysis
- Knowledge of image quality metrics and data analysis
- Experience with design of diffraction-limited imaging systems in dynamic environments
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
