Job Summary
Conduct pre-visit planning, initiate screening protocols, and perform precise measurements of patients' facial and eye features to ensure accurate eyewear fitting. Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses matching their prescription and lifestyle, while educating them on maintenance, lens options, and optical technology. Fabricate and adjust lenses using state-of-the-art equipment, perform repairs, and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient flow, communicate delays to providers and patients, and gather instruments for procedures. Collaborate with the optometrist on scheduling, phone contact, and electronic messaging, providing translation services and ensuring adherence to infection control and environmental cleaning standards. This role supports the optometry team in Conroe, Texas, within a fast-paced environment requiring bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum six (6) months of related optical or healthcare experience
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (required)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build genuine relationships with patients and team members
- Excellent organizational and detail-oriented approach to work
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and Athena Health or similar healthcare software
- Knowledge of optometric technology and equipment
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Superior patient service skills with a commitment to exceeding patient expectations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively solve challenges
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Optician (CO) credential or willingness to pursue certification
- Familiarity with contact lens fitting and management
