Optical Assembly Technician

Job Summary

Assemble optical systems with laser diodes and micro-optical components while performing hands-on tests and data collection for high power laser diode devices. Manipulate XYZ stages to characterize component performance and communicate results to production staff. Operate automated laser characterization systems, high magnification imaging tools, and laser engraving equipment. Perform inspection using microscopes and post data to Excel spreadsheets and manufacturing databases. Work in a 10,000 class clean room environment wearing full protective gear for an entire production shift, utilizing small hand tools like tweezers and torque drivers. Support various production processes during downtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Detail oriented
  • Mechanical dexterity
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Working with fiber coupling
  • Precision opto-mechanical alignment
  • Associates degree in optics, electronics or similar field
  • Familiarity with MS Excel
  • Familiarity with MS Access
  • Familiarity with MS Word
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint
  • Experience with laser diode diagnostic equipment
  • Beam measurement cameras
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Photo diodes
  • Power supplies
  • TEC controllers
  • Spectrometers
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to graph data
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in 10,000 class clean room environment
  • Wearing bunny suit with face and head mask and gloves for entire production shift
  • Safety glasses
  • Stand or sit at workstation for entire production shift
