Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician

Job Summary
Prioritize caseload and patient care by preparing and checking charts for appropriate paperwork, then restrain and assist during examinations while obtaining vitals and performing ocular testing such as tonometry, corneal stains, Schirmer tear testing, and TPRs. Assist with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and surgical procedures, including chemical ablations, and prepare or create written prescriptions. Coordinate interdepartmental communication, services, patient transfers, and consults. Maintain proficiency in calculations for drugs and constant rate infusions, with potential for additional training in anesthesia and sedation. Work in a fast-paced, appointment-based environment with a high caseload.
Required Qualifications
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license
- Prior veterinary experience
- Flexibility with work hours
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Passing of a drug screen
- Passing of a background check
Desired Qualifications
- Previous ophthalmology experience
- Potential for additional training in anesthesia and sedation
