Job Summary

Conduct preliminary ocular assessments including visual acuity, stereo testing, lensometry, motility, and applanation tonometry under physician supervision. Manage patient flow through the eye clinic, ensuring resources are sufficient and directing patients appropriately. Perform intraocular pressure assessments, instill dilating drops per instructions, and maintain exam room stock with instruments and materials. Communicate professionally with medical staff and health team members while ensuring patient confidentiality. Maintain effective working relationships with peers and managers, accepting constructive feedback and adapting to changes in job responsibilities. Requires a high school diploma, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant licensure after two years, and two years of clinical healthcare experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
  • Two years of clinical/healthcare experience
  • Proven record of attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient and accurate computer typing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally
  • Broad knowledge base of ophthalmic terminology
