Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician providing technician/clinical support to physicians at Arlington Family Practice. Multi-task to assist with patient care, respond to messages from patients and physicians, and assist with refills, forms, and prior authorizations. Requires solid ocular anatomy knowledge and familiarity with ophthalmic equipment (phoropter, tonometer, slit lamp, lensometer, ophthalmic photography). COA certification within 18 months or current Ophthalmic Technician Certification; CPR required. Full-time, on-site at 4102 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203; 40 hours/week, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Solid knowledge of ocular anatomy (including anterior and posterior portions of eye)
- Good working knowledge of ophthalmic medications and common allergic reactions to drugs
- Good working knowledge of ophthalmic equipment: projector, trial lenses, phoropter, tonometer, lensometer, slit lamp, Bright Field Acuity Tester, Potential Acuity Meter
- Working knowledge of ophthalmic photography equipment
- Good working knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior experience in a clinical office setting as an ophthalmic technician preferred
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification; if not certified, must obtain COA from IJCAHPO within 18 months of start date
- Valid CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years
