Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe

Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe supports ophthalmologists by performing preliminary patient work-ups, scribes for physicians during examinations, and may assist with procedures. Duties include patient intake and data recording in EMR, performing diagnostic tests (e.g., dilation, refraction, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography), accurate documentation of medical visits and codes, preparing patients and exam rooms, and providing outstanding customer service in a clinic setting. Requires high school diploma/GED and a willingness to learn; travel between Troy and Birmingham offices as needed and travel reimbursements provided. Open Monday–Friday 8am–5pm with potential early/late hours; full-time position with benefits and opportunities for certification reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- One year of related experience and/or training; experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology preferred but not required
- Current COA/COT certification or OSC certification preferred but not required
- HIPAA compliance
- Proficient computer skills and EMR experience
- Strong customer service and team-oriented demeanor
- Ability to work over 40 hours and weekends when applicable
