Job Summary

Schedule intravitreal injections and laser procedures based on physicians' plans, while maintaining inventory and ordering drugs. Initiate prior authorizations, chart communication regarding cancellations, and review charts for procedure discrepancies. Pre-register patients, document history and medications in the PODIS system, and determine visual acuity, pupillary measurements, intraocular pressure, and muscle motility. Perform confrontation visual fields, slit lamp exams, retinoscopy, refraction, and administer dilating drops as appropriate. Requires Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification, two years clinical experience, and strong communication skills. Required Qualifications

  • high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
  • minimum of two years' clinical experience
  • demonstrate competency in the defined content areas for a COA per HR policy #2.29--Technician Training and Competency Expectations
  • strong verbal and written communication skills

  • excellent organizational skills
  • The annual completion of assigned Learning Management System (LMS) courses is mandatory
