Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician/Patient Coordinator hybrid role supporting physicians with patient examinations and treatment. Responsibilities include patient histories, preliminary work-up (history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement), manual refractions, tonometry, diagnostic testing (biometry, topography, OCT, visual fields, fundus photos), documenting exam findings, administering drops under physician supervision, documenting prescriptions, educating patients about tests and procedures, maintaining and stocking exam rooms, instrument cleaning, assisting in minor office surgery, and handling patient communication. Requires at least 2 years of ophthalmic practice experience, EMR proficiency, strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with Outlook/Microsoft Office, and flexibility for early mornings/evenings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice
- Experience performing ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic testing
- Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Reliability and dependability
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office
- Flexibility (may require some early mornings and evenings)
