Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing while verifying medical and vision insurances. Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers by answering inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests. Record medical history, medications, and visit purpose in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) after observing pupils, visual acuity, and extraocular movements. Perform diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, and topography. Work Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm with possible schedule adjustments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to work weekends when applicable
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
