Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow, assist the doctor in preliminary testing, and verify medical and vision insurances. Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers while answering inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests. Record medical history, current medications, and confirm the purpose of the visit in the Electronic Medical Record. Check patient eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements, performing diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, and auto refractor. Verify patient information through interviews and practice urgency with both patient and doctor schedules. Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Full use of hands
- Strong fine motor skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required
