Ophthalmic Technician (Ophthalmology Tech)

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic testing including visual acuity, refraction, intraocular pressure, and pupil assessments while obtaining patient histories and medications. Prepare patients for physician examinations, office procedures, laser treatments, and surgical consultations, then assist during these clinical events. Accurately document diagnostic findings and testing results within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Maintain ophthalmic instruments, diagnostic equipment, examination rooms, and clinical supplies. Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of Ophthalmic Technician experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, and diagnostic testing
- Experience with OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photography, Corneal Topography, and other ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-care skills
Desired Qualifications
- COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician), or COMT certification preferred but not required
