Job Summary

Facilitate patient flow by assisting the doctor in preliminary testing, verifying patient information, and recording medical history and medications into the Electronic Medical Record. Check eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, and visual acuity, then perform diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, and OCT. Prepare patients for treatments, measure vital signs, and maintain exam rooms and drug counts. Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers while complying with HIPAA and company policies.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Favorable result on Background Check
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excitement to learn and grow
  • Commitment to work over 40 hours
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Reliable transportation
  • Full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Eyecare Certification Reimbursement
  • One year of related experience and/or training
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Provides excellent patient care
  • Energetic and empathetic with patients
  • Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with all levels of employees
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow
  • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals
  • Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change
  • Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
