Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician responsible for work ups, education and follow-up of patients, including obtaining medical and surgical histories, completing diagnostic tests (Humphrey Visual Field, OCT, A-scan, corneal topography, Amsler grid, color testing), triaging calls, preparing patients for laser procedures (blepharoplasty, injections, YAG, SLT), and assisting in minor procedures. Maintains HIPAA-compliant documentation, educates patients both in person and by phone, cross-trains in back/front-office tasks, and helps manage back-office inventory. This is an in-office position with no remote work; travel up to 50% to multiple LA/Orange County clinics may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or its equivalent is required
- 2+ years’ experience as Ophthalmology Technician preferred
- Ability to type 45 wpm
- Advanced understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)/Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred
- Experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred
- Experience in Medical scribing preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
