Job Summary
Gather chief complaints and protected health information from patients, then transfer data into the EMR while checking visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and visual fields. Assess pupil equality and reaction prior to dilation, administer required drops, and prepare patients for scheduled procedures. Rotate among three main roles: Work-up Technician, Photographer, and Scribe. You must independently seek resources, collaborate with physicians and administrators, and master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data. Maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and coworkers across practice locations. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and strong interpersonal customer service skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Strong interpersonal customer service skills, including effective listening, clear verbal and written communication, problem solving skills
- Reliable transportation to travel to practice locations – not just 1 location
- Ability to master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data
- Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology
