Job Summary

Maintain appropriate patient flow and satisfaction by triaging new arrivals, obtaining detailed patient histories, and performing accurate data collection including visual fields, refractions, and corneal topography. Escort patients to physicians, document procedures, and manage medical calls while ensuring exam rooms are cleaned and restocked between visits. Obtain lab and imaging reports, train new employees, and represent the practice at community events. Work in a fast-paced medical office environment with weekend and evening shifts, requiring long periods of standing and manual dexterity to operate medical equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Ophthalmic technician skills
  • Must be able to lift
  • Weekend and evening work
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to greet patients and answer the telephone in a professional manner
  • Must read, understand, follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees and public
  • Ability to multitask
  • Utilize time management skills
  • Recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
  • Must be flexible and cooperative when situations or job duties change because of practice needs
  • Some travel is required
  • Vision should be correctable
  • Hearing should be sufficient for patient contact and telephone/paging
