Job Summary

Maintain appropriate patient flow and satisfaction by triaging patients from the waiting room, escorting them for testing, and managing medical calls. Perform extensive data collection functions including visual fields, refractions, and corneal topography while obtaining patient histories and documenting results accurately. Clean and restock exam rooms, manage equipment, and order supplies as needed to ensure efficient office operations. Obtain lab and imaging reports, train new employees, and represent the practice at community events. Work in a fast-paced medical office environment with weekend and evening shifts, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to professional development efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Ophthalmic technician skills
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Stooping, bending and stretching
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other medical equipment
  • Correctable vision
  • Sufficient hearing for patient contact and telephone/paging
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to greet patients and answer the telephone in a professional manner
  • Ability to read, understand, follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees and public
