Job Summary
Review patient charts for completeness, administer topical or oral medications, and perform clinical tests including visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement, and fundus photography. Act as a medical scribe while examining patients, document ocular and systemic histories, and assist with simple in-office procedures under physician direction. Maintain exam room cleanliness, report inventory needs, and participate in daily team huddles. Complete work excuses and provide medication instructions to patients. This role supports the Retina Institute of Illinois in delivering retinal care to the Chicago area, focusing on improving eyesight and preventing vision loss through compassionate, conscientious service.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred
- COA Eligibility preferred
- Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
