Job Summary
Take medical histories, verify patient information, and perform visual function tests including applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy. Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to measure eye changes, dilate patients for exams, and explain proper use of eye drops, medications, and contact lenses. Inform the ophthalmologist about visual acuity issues and assist with inventory management. This role offers on-the-job training for candidates with medical experience to advance toward a career as an ophthalmic technician or scribe.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Previous experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician etc.
- Experience with EMR tools
- Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe
