Ophthalmic Technician I

Job Summary
Review patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Perform testing ordered by the physician based on the exam type, patient complaint, and history. Act as a medical scribe by entering data into electronic medical records while the physician examines the patient. Take an ocular and systemic history, accurately record visual acuity, and administer topical or oral medications under physician direction. Assist with simple in-office procedures, obtain informed consent, and provide patient education. Maintain exam room cleanliness, comply with all practice protocols and regulations, and report inventory needs to leadership. Participate in daily team huddles and meetings. Report potential or suspected errors to the supervisor or Compliance Officer. Contribute to team efforts by completing additional tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
- Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
- Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
