Job Summary
Monitor vital signs, transport patients, and maintain aseptic technique while observing for breaks in protocol. Care for contaminated items, stock OR supplies, and check sterilizer and refrigerator temperatures daily. Assist in pre-op assessments, laser procedures, and post-op instruction reviews, performing fingerstick blood sugars and documenting results. Identify patient teaching needs, report observations to nurses or physicians, and initiate emergency measures for adverse conditions. Maintain inventory levels, attend departmental meetings, and participate in in-service education under direct supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to work weekends when applicable
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
