Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician sought to support ophthalmologists by performing initial testing to prepare patients for exams, manage patient data in EMR, and assist with a range of diagnostic tests (dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL Master, auto refractor, topography). Responsibilities include providing excellent patient care, initiating patient flow, HIPAA compliance, accurate documentation of medical history and procedures, preparing patients for treatments, maintaining exam rooms and equipment, and supporting clinic operations. Must be detail-oriented, team-focused, with strong communication and organizational skills, and able to work over 40 hours with weekend availability. Education required: high school diploma or GED; minimum one year of related experience or training. COA/COT certification is preferred but not required. Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office is expected. Eye anatomy knowledge, ocular medications, and the ability to adapt to varying locations (Tallmadge, Streetsboro, Independence) are important for success.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Ability to work over 40 hours and weekends when applicable
- Reliable transportation to multiple work locations
