Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions, performing specialized eye exam testing (e.g., visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, venipuncture) and streamlining patient flow. Responsibilities include inventory of ophthalmic supplies, handling pharmaceuticals and instruments, providing phone support for prescription refills as authorized by the physician, and ensuring patient confidentiality per HIPAA. Requires standing/walking, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and a minimum of one year of ophthalmic technician experience; high school diploma or GED preferred with COA certification preferred. Work locations are Texan Eye Balcones, Texan Eye Cedar Park, and Texan Eye Mopac in Austin, TX with hours Mon-Fri 8AM–5PM. Required Qualifications
- One year experience as an ophthalmic technician required
- One year experience in a customer facing position preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred
