Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician- Cataract & Cornea: Assist Physician with patient examination and treatment, including taking histories, performing routine diagnostic tests (visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, tonometry, refractions, biometry, topography, OCT, visual fields, fundus photos), documenting exam findings, administering drops under supervision, and supporting minor office surgery. Maintain/stock exam rooms, handle instrument care, take and explain tests and diagnoses to patients, and manage phone communications. Requires 2+ years in an ophthalmic practice with cornea/cataract experience, EMR proficiency, reliability, strong organizational and communication skills, and flexibility for early mornings/evenings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice
- Experience in cornea and cataract clinics preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic testing
- Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Reliability and dependability
- Flexibility (may require some early mornings and evenings)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office
