Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician providing essential technical support in a clinic setting, performing diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus/slit-lamp photography, visual fields) and pre-test procedures (autorefractor, IOP, dilation), preparing patients, and assisting providers during procedures. Responsibilities include operating ophthalmic testing equipment, maintaining equipment and infection-control standards, documenting results in the EHR, administering ophthalmic drops under provider direction, and contributing to patient flow and clinic workflows. Requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, professional communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Also supports training of new technicians and ensures room readiness and inventory management, with compliance to HIPAA and safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior medical office or healthcare experience preferred
- ophthalmic or optometric technician experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and EHR systems preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) credential preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a cooperative and professional team approach
