Job Summary
Conduct all pre-exam elements of patient visits, including gathering history, testing far/near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception. Apply ocular medications to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes, and collect specimens for processing. Triage emergency cases into physician schedules to maintain patient flow while preparing procedure rooms and assisting with ophthalmologist procedures. Perform first-level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and adhere to infection control techniques and universal precautions. Maintain patient confidentiality and provide white glove service in a collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications
- fully trained Ophthalmic Technician 3
- two years minimum of refracting experience
- COT certification
- passionate and empathetic
- at least 3 years of experience in an ophthalmic setting
- ability to work with all specialties and perform all ancillary tasks
- excellent communicator – both verbally and written
- outgoing
- comfortable providing white glove service and responding quickly to our patients needs
- dependable problem solver
- positive, can-do attitude
- work well in collaborative environments
- flexible
- regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- frequently required to sit
- occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories
