Ophthalmic Tech Trainee - SMH

Ophthalmic Tech Trainee works under supervision to learn essential ophthalmology diagnostic skills and procedures. Responsibilities include shadowing and learning under a certified technician; performing preliminary tests such as visual acuity testing, tonometry, refraction, pupil dilation, and automated refractions; recording patient histories and test results in EMR; assisting with imaging tests (e.g., OCT and visual field testing); handling ophthalmic equipment; educating patients about procedures and follow-up care; sterilizing and cleaning equipment; maintaining patient records and adhering to infection-control procedures; attending trainings; and performing clinical-clerical duties including scheduling and related administrative tasks. Minimum education required is a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong interest in ophthalmology and good communication and attention to detail are preferred.
