Job Summary
Supervise the clinical technical team by creating schedules, coordinating PTO, and mentoring ophthalmic technicians while performing Level II duties including manual refraction, visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, and fundus photography. Assist physicians during exams and procedures, support patient triage and clinic flow, and maintain inventory and equipment maintenance. Collaborate with providers to improve workflow, handle hiring and performance reviews, and ensure compliance with office policies. Work in a multi-specialty ophthalmology network with over 50 clinic locations and 110 physicians, utilizing NextGen EMR and Microsoft Office tools.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician with the ability to perform all Level II technician responsibilities
- Strong manual refraction skills
- Experience performing OCT, Visual Fields, Corneal Topography, Fundus Photography, and other ophthalmic testing
- Experience using NextGen or another electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professionalism and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) through JCAHPO, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire
