Job Summary
Document medical visits and procedures accurately as they occur while operating the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Input examination and procedure codes, including ICD-9, ensuring correct diagnosis and charges for all patients. Anticipate physician needs to facilitate clinic flow by opening and closing exam rooms and assisting with testing to keep rooms filled. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and coordinate with multiple members of the health care team while displaying discretion and tact. This role requires travel between Willoughby Hills, Mayfield Heights, Parma, Independence, and Streetsboro with mileage reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification
- Proficient keyboarding skills
- Use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to travel between offices
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations
- Efficient in using EMR and ability to accurately record information
- Good typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills
- Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team
- Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow
- Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when communicating patient information
- Must be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of the duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care
- Good judgment, organization ability, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated
- Must be willing to travel between offices
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification is preferred, but not required
