Job Summary
Document examination findings, summarize ocular assessments, and perform ICD-10 and CPT coding while maintaining patient flow and communication at the Katy Clinic. Assist physicians during exams by providing instruments, administering medications, and ensuring patients understand discharge instructions and follow-up appointments. Monitor examination room supplies, alert staff to schedule changes or emergencies, and facilitate communication between the physician and other clinic personnel. Travel to various clinic locations as needed to support Monday through Friday shifts from 6:30am to 6:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must be able to travel to various clinics
- Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am-6:30pm
- High school diploma
- At least 6 months experience in a medical office
- Must be able to walk and stand for entire work shift
- Must be able to move frequently from standing and sitting
- Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
- Must be able to hear softly spoken words
- Lifting required up to 30 pounds
- Knows required components of examination for appropriate CPT coding
- Understands Medicare and other common insurance requirements
- Training and understanding of HIPAA requirements
- Fluency in English
- Understanding of medical terminology and/or ophthalmic terminology
- Ability to educate patients regarding instillation of eye drops and other instructions related to physician's treatment plan
