Job Summary
Obtain accurate patient history, perform lensometry and diagnostic eye testing including HVF, HRT, IOLmaster, and basic fundus photography. Document patient medical records, input recommended treatments, and administer topical medications while performing accurate tonometry. Assist physicians with instillation of punctual plugs, maintain and sterilize surgical instructions, and verbalize post-operative instructions to patients. Requires at least one year of ophthalmic scribe experience, JCAHPO certification, and proficiency in EMR. Works in a fast-paced team environment at Key Whitman Eye Center in Grapevine, TX.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 Year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred
- Some college coursework or Associates degree preferred
- JCAHPO certification preferred
- CPR preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skill
- Able to think quickly and be attentive
- Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff members
- Must demonstrate commitment to ongoing educations and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality
- Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
- Well organized and attentive to detail
- HIPAA knowledge and compliance
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their uses
- Proficiency in a second language highly desirable
