Job Summary
Obtain accurate patient history, perform lensometry, and conduct diagnostic eye testing including HVF, HRT, IOLmaster, and basic fundus photography. Document patient medical records, input recommended treatments, and administer topical ophthalmic medications while performing accurate tonometry. Demonstrate ability to perform functional ocular measurements such as color vision, B AT, Schirmer, and Amsler grid tests. Assist physicians with instillation of punctual plugs, maintain and sterilize surgical instructions, and verbalize post-operative instructions to patients. Requires JCAHPO certification, CPR, and proficiency in EMR.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 Year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred
- Some college coursework or Associates degree preferred
- JCAHPO certification preferred
- CPR preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skill
- Able to think quickly and be attentive
- Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff members
- Must demonstrate commitment to ongoing educations and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality
- Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
- Well organized and attentive to detail
- HIPAA knowledge and compliance
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in a second language highly desirable
