Job Summary
Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician role supporting Eye Center physicians and technical staff in performing diagnostic ophthalmic tests (visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, motility, pupil assessment, visual fields; may perform refraction and administer dilation or anesthetic drops). Includes clerical and stocking duties, room maintenance, supply ordering, instrument sterilization preparation, appointment coordination, phone screening, and handling medical records. Must maintain confidentiality and participate in professional development; requires basic ophthalmic testing skills, patient-care focus, and ability to operate or calibrate equipment under supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of directly related experience working for an Ophthalmologist
- BLS Certification
- Education background generally equivalent to a high school education
