Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Assistant conducts measurements and tests to assist the Physician in diagnosing and treating patients. Responsibilities include taking ocular and systemic histories, performing various eye tests such as OCT and automated visual fields, and maintaining accurate patient records. The role requires excellent patient service, adherence to office procedures, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in an ophthalmic assistant role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- 2 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience
- Ability to perform eye tests and measurements
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Responsible for patient history documentation and care
- Ability to navigate electronic medical records
