Job Summary
Conduct measurements and tests to provide physicians with diagnostic information for treatment prescriptions. Review patient charts for accuracy, take ocular and systemic histories, and record visual acuity. Perform specific exams including OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry, slit lamp assessments, and basic muscle balance testing. Administer topical or oral medications, act as a scribe for electronic or paper records, and ensure informed consent is obtained. Oversee patient flow, maintain exam room cleanliness, and comply with all State and Federal regulations. Requires a current unrestricted State Registered Nurse License and 0-2 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Current unrestricted State Registered Nurse License
- Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception), normal range of hearing
- ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (gloves, face mask, eye shield, gown)
- standing for long periods of time
