Job Summary

Conduct initial eye testing including dilation, refraction, and diagnostic procedures such as visual fields and OCT to prepare patients for ophthalmologist exams. Verify patient information, record medical history and medications in the Electronic Medical Record, and measure vital signs as required. Anticipate physician needs to facilitate clinic flow while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance and providing exceptional customer service. Keep exam rooms clean, stocked, and drug counts up to date, and perform general office duties assigned by the manager. This role supports Virginia Eye Consultants in Hampton, VA, with travel to Virginia Beach, Suffolk, and Norfolk, offering paid training and full benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year of related experience and/or training
  • Ability to work weekends when applicable
  • Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Desired Qualifications

  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
  • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals
  • Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change
  • Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
  • Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
