Job Summary
Maintain patient records and schedule appointments in IDX while answering phones and verifying billing information. Assist with clinical workups including visual acuity, applanation pressures, and autorefraction, and instruct patients on contact lens care and insertion/removal. Modify and polish contacts, manage inventory of materials, clean instruments, and maintain examination rooms and supplies. Travel between offices as needed. Requires Basic Life Support certification and two years of medical office experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
- Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
- Medical Office Setting (2 Years)
- A driver's license
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements)
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily
- Must submit to pre-employment screening for this position
- Must complete criminal background check
- Must complete drug screen
- Must complete employment and education or licensure/certification verification
- Must complete physical examination
- Must complete certain vaccinations and/or governmental registry checks
- Must be able to travel between offices
- Must be able to maintain patient records and schedules in IDX
- Must be able to answer phones, greet patients, verify billing information, and prepare charts
- Must be able to assist with clinical work up including visual acuity, applanation pressures, history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis, and EYESYS
- Must be able to instruct patients in contact lens care and insertion/removal
- Must be able to modify and/or polish contacts
- Must be able to maintain inventory of materials and clean instruments
- Must be able to maintain examination rooms and supplies
- Must be able to work in a normal office environment
- Must be able to typically sit at a desk or table
