Job Summary
Assist the physician in taking patient histories, performing specified diagnostic tests and procedures, and providing patient education on tests, procedures, and diagnosis. Preforms instrument maintenance in accordance with organizational policies, coordinates communication with patients via phone, email, and faxes, and schedules appointments with appropriate providers. Compile medical workup results for provider review, write, edit, and file patient medical records, and complete in-basket tasks including medication refills and request approvals. Adhere to the first shift schedule of less than 12 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and comply with all Stormont Vail Health policies and mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2 years Experience in the medical field with direct patient care
- Ability to use Microsoft office products
- Ability to work within Electronic Medical record
- Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification within 24 months of hire
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years Experience as a Ophthalmic Assistant
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and medical staff
- Preferred proficiency in Microsoft office products
- Preferred proficiency in Electronic Medical record
