Job Summary

Perform a variety of vision and eye-related tests, imaging, and assessments to prepare patients for comprehensive eye examinations. Accurately identify and administer diagnostic eye drops as directed by a clinician, and assist with minor office procedures including injections and cryotherapy under supervision. Measure and document vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and maintain ophthalmic equipment in accordance with infection prevention standards. Handle, store, and transport specimens, instruments, and medications while supporting administrative tasks such as triaging patient calls and managing electronic messages. Provide cross-coverage at other ophthalmology services and locations as needed. Schedule includes rotating hours, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology or the ability and willingness to learn
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients and families
  • Ability to provide appropriate support to patients across a range of ages and physical and cognitive needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary care team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment within the scope of the role
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, or the ability and willingness to learn new technology and systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing a positive patient experience
  • Must be available for rotating hours, weekends, and holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in an ophthalmology, healthcare, or patient-facing setting
  • 0–1 year of relevant experience
