Job Summary

Ophthalmic Assistant to join the ophthalmology department. Responsibilities include performing preliminary screenings such as obtaining visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, and pupil exam, collecting detailed patient histories, and assisting with visual field testing under physician direction. Maintain ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment and ensure rooms are stocked and clean, uphold patient confidentiality, and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain COA certification. May perform prescription refills under standard physician guidelines. Requires COA certification and CPR; strong interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills are essential. Full-time schedule, 40 hours weekly, based in Rome, GA.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certification by JCAHPO in Ophthalmology at COA level
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic instrumentation
  • Proficiency in preliminary ophthalmic testing
  • EMR experience preferred
