OpEx Engineer – student position

Job Summary
Support the Production Floor Manager in driving OpEx initiatives across the production floor by observing, mapping, and analyzing manufacturing processes to improve flow, productivity, and labor efficiency. Utilize structured problem-solving methods such as A3, DMAIC, and Kaizen to collect operational data, identify trends, and develop improved standard work and visual management. Partner with production, quality, and engineering teams to support implementation of improvement actions, track project progress, and summarize findings for site stakeholders. This on-site student position requires a 2 to 3 days per week presence at the production floor, reporting directly to the Production Floor Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, 3rd or 4th year
- Strong interest in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and data-based problem solving
- Basic knowledge of OpEx tools and methods, including A3, DMAIC, and Kaizen
- Good analytical skills with the ability to organize data and draw practical conclusions
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams
- Availability to work on site 2 to 3 days per week
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with time studies, process mapping, labor analysis, Microsoft Excel, or data visualization tools
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment through coursework, projects, or previous internships
