Job Summary
Operators to join Harnden Construction Services in contract roles at Ft. Meade, MD and Harrisburg, PA. Responsibility includes operating a range of heavy civil construction equipment (excavators, bulldozers, rollers, pavers, track hoes, dump trucks) in accordance with OSHA/H&K safety policies, performing daily checks and maintenance, assisting laborers/supervisors, and potentially running different machines during a day. Requires a one-year certificate from a technical school or six months of related experience, ability to pass a practical heavy-equipment test, and strong communication skills. May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned; equipment maintenance and safe storage are expected. Veterans-owned context and competitive benefits are noted in the posting.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Two years of related experience and/or training (preferred)
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries (preferred)
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications (preferred)
- Physical Demands as listed (standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, etc.)
