Operator - Paratransit (Non-CDL)

Job Summary
Drive one of several transit buses or non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area, stopping at designated points to load and unload passengers. Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections, operate on-board computer fare boxes and destination signs, and assist passengers using wheelchairs or mobility aids by securing them properly. Communicate with dispatch and supervisors via radio and PA system to report deviations, accidents, or mechanical issues, while ensuring fares are deposited and rules are advised to passengers. Complete written reports on passengers and incidents, and maintain a clean driving record with a Class C license. Work a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend shift hours, including early morning assignments, while meeting strict timelines and physical demands for driving and passenger assistance.
Required Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of previous driving experience
- Must have a valid Class C Driver's License (Cannot be a Provisional Driver's License) and a clean driving record
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to communicate clearly in the English language
- Must satisfactorily complete all required training
- Ability to acquire and maintain a medical examiner's certificate (DOT Card)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Desired Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of previous driving experience in a professional environment (shuttle bus, van, school bus, truck etc.)
