Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment to manufacture sheet metal parts according to engineering specifications and production schedules. Select tooling and machine settings, load materials, monitor production, and inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy while performing deburring as needed. Organize workload to maximize material flow, communicate with production and engineering teams to resolve issues, and execute routine preventative maintenance. Identify equipment malfunctions, make adjustments within guidelines, assist in team training, and maintain a clean work area following 5S principles and safety protocols. This role works the 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday, 3:30 pm - 2:00 am) at Mark Rite Lines Equipment Company, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, specializing in pavement marking and maintenance machinery.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one (1) year of related manufacturing or CNC machine operation experience
- Ability to safely operate CNC laser cutting equipment and related manufacturing machinery
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of precision measuring tools and quality inspection techniques
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to prioritize work and meet production schedules
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely operate an overhead crane
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures while wearing required PPE
- Monday-Thursday, 3:30 PM-2:00 AM shift availability
Desired Qualifications
- Formal CNC machining education or equivalent technical training
- Previous experience operating CNC laser equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using overhead cranes and material handling equipment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles
