Job Summary
Operator - Ladle Wall Helper at ArcelorMittal Calvert in Calvert, AL. Assisting or operating equipment used in the turnaround and maintenance of steel ladles; monitor ladle position and condition during operations; collaborate with furnace operator and shift personnel to ensure ladles are available when needed; use computerized entries to track ladle life items; ready ladles for use after each cast and change wear items. Demonstrates safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1+ year of heavy industrial experience, knowledge of cranes, forklifts, heavy machinery, and hand/power tools; basic math and reading comprehension; strong written and verbal communication; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; and troubleshooting ability.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience working in a heavy industrial setting (steel mill, paper mill, manufacturing, mining, or similar)
- Advanced knowledge of tools and equipment used for industrial purposes (cranes, fork trucks, heavy machinery, hand and power tools)
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot problems
