Job Summary
Perform routine maintenance tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant on an assigned shift. Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water, sludge, and effluent under direction. Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels while observing and reporting abnormalities to Lead Operators. Operate valves and gates manually or by remote control; start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to adjust treatment processes. Maintain shift logs, record meter and gauge readings, and take samples for process control laboratory tests. Perform routine maintenance functions, custodial duties, and adhere to established safety procedures. Must be fit and able to work overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Must be fit and able to work overtime
- Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
- Follows written and oral instructions
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operations of engines, pumps, and related equipment
- Knowledge of general maintenance work
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Knowledge of basic biological and chemical principles
- Minimum of one year of water experience
