Job Summary
Operate construction equipment including mini excavators, skid steers, bore drills, and directional drills on 15,000 lb., 2020, and 3020 machines for underground construction projects. Load, transport, and unload tools and materials safely while locating cables and identifying marked or unmarked utilities per blueprints. Perform pre and post-operation inspections, conduct routine maintenance, hand dig with shovels, organize materials, and restore or landscape disturbed job site areas. Complete all required company documentation and adhere to safety guidelines. May be required to work long, unpredictable hours outdoors in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education
- Two or more years' experience drilling in standard and high-risk areas
- Two or more years' experience as a locator
- Experience using mud mixing devices and bore gel
- Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Knowledge of utility depths and placement
- Ability to read and interpret design prints
- Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
- Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
- Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
- Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to work in trenches, tunnels, and manholes
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
Desired Qualifications
- Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred
