Job Summary
Operate electric, diesel-electric, or gas-turbine-electric locomotives; interpret train orders, signals, and rules; transport freight and perform timely and correct switching and placement of rail cars. Inspect locomotives before operation (fuel, sand, water, etc.), control throttle and airbrakes, and follow safety regulations and switching schedules. Assist crew leader in training new employees; observe tracks for obstructions; prepare reports on accidents or delays; lubricate parts; handle train equipment safely; operate switches, derails, gates; control movement with radio/hand signals; apply/release hand brakes; manage air hoses and wheel chocks; wear required PPE. A FRA-regulated role; a valid driver’s license is required. Flexible duties include other tasks as assigned. We value dependable attendance, teamwork, communication, and the ability to work across multiple tasks with a focus on safety and efficiency. High School diploma (or equivalent) required; military experience helpful. We provide training and seek candidates willing to work 8-hour days, Monday–Friday with potential overtime and weekends.
